Analysis 1.4 Hierarchy leaf node auto de-selects

We are in the process of evaluating the suitability of Analysis for Office version 1.4 for replacement of our BEx 3.5 product and have encountered an issue in the handling of hierarchies in Excel.   When we de-select a leaf node of a hierarchy, it  automatically de-selects all of the parent nodes and they cannot be re-selected without re-selecting the leaf node.  This is for the Fund Center hierarchy where there can be postings at all levels of the hierarchy so we do not want the parents de-selected.  Have you seen this issue or heard anything from SAP on it?   It seems that most people are encouraging the Analysis for Office route vs moving to BEx 7.0, but BEx 7.0 seems more stable at this point.
