Analysis for excel workbooks are taking lot of time to open

$

Hello,

We have converted all our 3.x Bex workbooks into Analysis for excel. All the workbooks have 'Refresh on Open ' option checked in the display settings.

When I try to open a complex workbook, it takes around 45-60 sec just to open the workbook and bring up the prompts window.

Is there any way I can get the prompts automatically without having to check the 'Refresh on opening' option?

Thanks,
Amruta

When presenting HANA data through Analysis for Office (AFO) in Citrix the date stored in HANA is presented in US date format (MM/DD/YYY) even though regional settings, locale etc are set to AU (DD/MM/YYYY).

Issue : When presenting HANA data through Analysis for Office (AFO) in Citrix the date stored in HANA is presented in US date format (MM/DD/YYY) even though regional settings, locale etc are set to AU (DD/MM/YYYY).

What we have done
•        Checked regional settings on the following setup correctly (all appear ok)
o  Business Objects Server
  Server settings correct
  Forced the locale to Australia in BusObj Preferences
  Checked the SAP-BW user is set at AUSNSW and has the right date format set in the user defaults
o  SAP HANA server
  Server settings correct
  Forced the locale EN_AU on the HANA user
  When viewing the data within HANA studio through data preview, the date is returned correctly.
o  Citrix server
  Server settings correct
  If using the date() function in Excel it returns the correct date format
  The date displayed on the Citrix desktop is correct
  Changed to multiple different regional settings to see if something else worked.
•        Remote connected to the Citrix server and used AFO locally, and the date is not returned correctly.
•        Logged onto Citrix server as administrator and manually checked/changed regional settings, then ran AFO and the date is not returned correctly.

The only way we have returned the date correctly is by setting up a local machine with the same software, but without Citrix, then ran AFO.

The software being used is
Office 2010 – Excel v14.0.6129
Analysis for Office v1.4.8
Citrix – Windows 2008 R2 XenApp 6.5
SAP HANA v1.80
BusObj 4.1 SP2 (v14.1.2.1121)

Our current observation is that when the data is passed from HANA to AFO in Citrix, the driver is determining that the machine is in US locale rather than AU and passing the date through as US. We cannot see any other places to change this.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Or can anyone offer any suggestions except change the machine regional setting which we have tried every combinations we can think of.

Thanks

Invalid Selection for Characteristics

Hi Experts,

Just would like if any of you would know a fix for this issue.  One of our clients informed us that they were

getting this issue when running their workbook.

A warning message: Invalid selection for characteristics XXXXX

Details: Characteristics XXXXX has no master data for YYYYY or you do not have authorization

(com.sap.ip.bi.bics.dataaccess.consumer.impl.selector.selection.SingleMemberNoMasterdata)

However, the issue is not seen when we run the query in BEx Analyzer

The error in AO comes up when we apply a Filter Member to a certain dimension.

If we take out the Filter Member, issue is not present.

We are using version AO 1.4.12.3394

I saw a similar post but seems like I need to open a new discussion for it:

Thank you!

Analysis for Office - Default the Task Pane to display on open

After reading through SCN there are undocumented commands to show/hide the task pane Analysis, Component and Information tabs. There does not appear to be a way to toggle the whole task pane off/on. What we would like to do is make the Task Pane visible by default and not requiring the user to go to the Analysis tab and select display in the design panel buttons each time the workbook is open. Is there are setting that can be applied or macro created? We are using AFO v1.4.8 and Excel 2010. Thanks for you help.

Sporadic issue with Excel context menu

We have deployed BOAO 2.0 SP4 to a number of end-user PC's on top of Office 2013 and SAP GUI 7.3. Some users reported sporadic issue with Excel context (right-click) menu. It reduces to just few items (Copy/Cut/Paste) instead of full context menu which has over 10 items. We've had difficult time replicating exact sequence of steps that results in this behaviour, but we established that it relates to BOAO.

Here is what we're seeing:

- not all clients have the issue

- the issue occurs only when BOAO is loaded, after unloading BOAO Add-in issue no longer occurs

- the issue occurs in workbooks that don't contains any Analysis objects. Immediately switching to a workbook with Analysis crosstab, full Analysis context menu appears as expected.

- sometimes full context will appear after waiting for 15 seconds before right-clicking

Here is what we've tried w/o success:

- reinstalling BOAO

- copying C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\Excel15.xlb from PC where issue does not occur to to problem machine

Has anyone seen similar behaviour?

Decimals in Analysis Charts

$

Hello Experts,

i have the problem that for datasources/crosstabs that contain values which never have decimal places still show decimals in the chart component of analysis. The values that i mean here are those that are displaed when you hover over for example one bar in a bar chart. This can however be fixed if you use the excel function to change the cell type to "text" but after refreshing the datasource this is overwritten again. Is there a possibilty to set this for the chart/crosstab/datasource fixed? So that it would never show decimals?

Thanks in advance for your help!

SAP Analysis for office: Creating a panel to hide/show keyfigures.

Hello,

I have a requirement which I am not sure how to implement and was wondering if I can get any help.

I have several queries in the same workbook that has some hidden key figures (can be shown) , sometimes similar.

My requirement is to build some kind of component where the user can select which key figures to show(can choose several at a time).

In analyser this can be done through a check box group. The user gets a list where he can select and then the check box group component can be associated with several dataproviders.

Since check box group component is a bex analyser component, is there an alternative way to do this is Analysis? I know this can be done from the display panel in analysis but I am not sure the end user will have access and the requirement is to have a list of check boxes and a submit button that will trigger the action of hidding/showing those key figures.

Do anybody have an idea how to do this in analysis?

Thanks.

Hi,

with analysis for office 1.4 I fixed the problem changing the windows registry, following posts like this one Size limit of result set exceeded+Analysis for Microsoft Office or this one Size Limit of Result Set Exceeded in SAP Business Objects Advanced Analysis for Office 1.2

But now with analysis for office 2.0 or 2.1 it doesn't work. I have tried with more than one pc but the problem is the same.

I'm using office 2013 x64 and also office 2013 32bits.

This is important because now I'm limited to a maximum of 60000 rows.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks a lot.

BW-IP:free text can enter by Analyzer but can't do it in Analysis Office

Hi Experts

I created a characteristic without master data and text. Which is used for record comments during planning. I can write free text into this characteristic by BEx Analyzer. But I can't do this in AO. AO not allowed input a record which not exist in master data into characteristic.

I did searched a lot on SCN for work around this issue. Set Characteristic as Key Figure might solve my problem but I am using BW7.0. Which still not support this feature. Does anyone has any other solution on this?

Thanks

Hi there,

I know SAP Advanced analysis for Excel can connect to BW data Sources like Queries which are OLAP sources.

But can it also connect to ORACLE/SQL Server data sources. Is there a work around to do connect to these sources from Analysis for Excel or Analysis for OLAP (Web version)?

Please advise.

Thank you

BEx Workbook Conversion to A Office: Error

$

Hello. I am attempting to convert a workbook developed within BEx Analyzer to Analysis for Office. When I attempt to convert the workbook it immediately fails with the following error message:

'Nested exception. See inner exception below for more details: That command cannot be used on multiple selections'

Has anyone experienced this error message? Also, is there a place to look up these error messages to determine what is specifically causing the issue? We have many workbooks to convert so having a place to diagnose would be beneficial.

Kind regards,

Does anyone have a document which lists, in detail, the supported features of Analysis 2.1+ in based on BEx queries vs directly on HANA Calculation Views?  I need a fully comprehensive list which will help us in deciding between continuing to build BEx queries or migrating some (or all) semantics to calculation views.

Hello,

We are on AO 2.1 SP2.

Its with respect to this workbook we are working which opens up in 7-8 seconds when plugin is disabled but takes long time when AO plugin enabled, note we have not installed EPM plugin.

When we enabled profiling, I see most of the time is being taken by following two actions highlighted in GREEN

I am not able to understand why its checking for Stylesets in offline mode too?

Is there any way we can debug more or if we can disable it?

All this is in offline mode (no connection to BW or BIP)

Have already made formula calculation as manual and COF settings to for the sheets.

Thank you

Clarification on Saving workbook as 1.x format using 2.x

$

Hi Folks,

I enabled the setting to save in 2.1 AO workbooks in 1.x format.  However, I face some issues where I am looking for some advice.

Upfront: I use AO 2.1 - SP2 and AO 1.4 SP14

1) Issue - Save as 1.4 option does not appear I have configured in C:\ProgramData\SAP\Cof\AO_app below settings But I still do not see the check box in the save dialog as you got in your picture. I do see undersettings the check box -> save 1.4 as default

2) Issue - 2.1 features are not removed during save When I set default save to 1.4 and save a workbook with a 2.1 feature in 2.1 AO it does not remove the features. When I open with AO 1.4 it complains that 2.1 features are there and warns that they will be lost. But when I refresh workbook it runs into an exception. My expectation was that during save as 1.4 in AO 2.1 the features would be removed so that AO 1.4 would have nothing at all to complain. When I save a workbook in AO 2.1 that contains no 2.1 features in 1.4 format it opens and refreshes fine in AO 1.4. Even when saved as 2.1 format it works fine.

So for me it seems that AO 2.1 will include AO 2.1 features independent of format option but AO 1.4 cannot handle any AO 2.1 features and crashes.

SAP BO 4.1 Analysis 2.1 for Excel disconnect

Hello, fellows!

I'm trying to solve this problem already more then 1 month but still unsuccessfull. We have SAP BusinessObjects 4.1, Analysis for Excel 2.1 (latest patch) and HANA DB as source system.

The main question is why after ~20 minute of idle time in Analysis for Excel (inactive window, for ex.) there is disconnection from cube? Where can i change this time parameter? I've read a lot of threads, but still in searching an answer. I even changed parameter "idle_time_session" of index server in hana, but its not helped.

It is very uncomfortable to re-login every time.

Who knows where should i dig?

Is Analysis for Office 1.4.10 compatible with Office 2016?

We are in the process of upgrading our office 2010 to Office 2016.

We are still using AO 1.4.10.  Will AO work with Office 2016?

We will be upgrading to the latest version of AO in July but some users are moving to Office 2016 before then.

Special Characters in "SAPSetFilter

Hi guys,

So while using SAPSetFilter in VBA I stumbled upon an issue.

One of my names that I wish to filter out contains words in brackets ("Supplier name (XX)"). While giving this value as a parameter to the function I get a message that the input format is wrong.
This is understandable probably "()" are interpreted in some way by AFO.

My question is: How can I force AFO to not process the special characters I already tried to put the names in ' ' didn't help.

Do you guys have a solution to this?

Analysis for Office opens multiple Instances

Hi everyone,

I have a very strange behaviour with some Analysis for Office (Excel) files. When I start them, the file opens not one, but multiple times (for example 4 times). So I have the same window multiple times. For example "xyz.xlsm:3", "xyz.xlsm:2", "xyz.xlsm".

Has anyone else seen anything like this?

Some Background Information: We use AO as a frontend for our planning with BW IP. All AO files are on Netweaver Platform. AO Version: 2.03.

Best Wishes

Freddy
